Carol Aubrey is an author, educator, performer and inspirational speaker. A lifelong cultural creative, she teaches how to walk the path to fearlessness, allowing new ways of doing, perceiving and creating to emerge.
As an educator, she has taught at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, Florida Atlantic University, and Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She has held workshops on creativity and diversity in states across the nation, trained teachers in using the arts as a strategy for teaching the core curriculum, and received several state grants for creating out-of-the-box educational programs. Her innovative writing program for children, Incite to Write! is currently used in school districts in several states around the country.
Combining her 15 years as a performer/director and theatre producer in New York with her political activism, Carol produced and directed a tribute honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in New York City from 1982 until his birthday was finally recognized as a national holiday in 1985. Assisted in her organizing efforts by Andrew Young and long-time friend of Dr. King, the late Cleveland Robinson, Carol’s annual program brought together an eclectic group of well-known speakers and performers to explore and celebrate the themes of peaceful global community and non-violence.
A dynamic and inspiring speaker, Carol’s speaking engagements are diverse, from keynote addresses at educational conferences to speaking on “The New Face of Power: Building the Co-Creative Community” at the International Center for Global Justice in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Her first book, Fearless Thinking: Moving Past the Obstacles to Personal & Social Evolution (released in February, 2009). debunks a number of prevalent myths that stand in the way of our personal and global evolution, encouraging readers to break patterns and move forward at a time when fear tempts us to move backwards.
Her work as an innovator has brought her into direct contact with core, collective fear patterns and the human tendency to trade in power and freedom for the illusion of security, control and certainty. Recognizing the importance of changing our perceptions if we are to evolve, she gives workshops and presentations on how to become fearless, authentic and powerful, embracing the creative potential of the unknown even as the world undergoes major changes.
